About us
Green Tech Boutique is an online shop dedicated to everyday electric mobility: electric scooters, electric bikes, accessories and spare parts. Our aim is simple: to help you choose a reliable ride that suits your journeys and that you can use within the rules of the road.
Who we are
Green Tech Boutique is run by Adam Online Ventures Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales. We sell online to customers in the United Kingdom and France, with free delivery on every order. Full company details are given in our legal notice.
How we choose our products
We prefer a focused selection to an endless catalogue. For every product, we look at:
- compliance: models designed to be used within the rules, with no de-restriction;
- clear specifications: power, top speed, stated range, weight, maximum load and charging time, presented without exaggeration;
- battery safety: CE marking, the original charger, and safety instructions supplied;
- a long life: the ability to maintain and repair, with the accessories and spare parts available in our shop.
The rules we follow
Electric bikes
In the UK, an electric bike can be ridden like an ordinary bicycle only if it meets the EAPC (electrically assisted pedal cycle) rules: a motor of 250 W maximum, assistance cutting out at 15.5 mph (25 km/h), and a rider aged at least 14. In Great Britain, a compliant EAPC needs no licence, registration or insurance.
In France, the rules are similar: an electric bike (vélo à assistance électrique) has a motor of 250 W maximum that only assists while you pedal, cutting out at 25 km/h. Beyond those limits it is treated as a moped.
Electric scooters
In the UK, at the time of writing, a privately owned e-scooter may not be used on public roads, pavements or cycle lanes. It may only be ridden on private land, with the landowner's permission. Only scooters from official rental trials are allowed on public roads, in certain areas.
In France, e-scooters may be ridden on public roads within strict rules: speed limited to 25 km/h by design, riders aged 14 or over, one person only, no riding on pavements (unless locally authorised), compulsory third-party insurance, and lights and reflective equipment at night.
No de-restriction
We do not sell de-restriction kits or services. Increasing the speed or power of an e-scooter or e-bike is illegal and dangerous, and it can void your insurance cover.
The detailed UK rules are set out in our terms and conditions. Rules change, so always check the rules that apply where you ride.
