Warranty, safety and recycling

Customers in France: French law applies to you, including the legal guarantee of conformity and the guarantee against hidden defects. Please read the French version of this page (choose "Français" in the language selector).
1. Your legal rights (they always apply)
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, everything we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. These rights are free and automatic. In short:
- within 30 days of delivery: reject a faulty product for a full refund (short-term right to reject);
- after that, or if you prefer: a free repair or replacement, then a price reduction or a refund (final right to reject) if that does not work;
- within six months of delivery: a fault is presumed to have been there at delivery;
- you can make a claim up to six years after delivery (five years from discovering the problem in Scotland).
Full details: Returns and refunds.
2. Manufacturer's warranty
Some products come with a manufacturer's warranty. When this is the case, its length, what it covers and how to claim are stated on the product page or in the documents supplied with the product. A manufacturer's warranty is in addition to your legal rights and never replaces or reduces them.
Your legal rights and any warranty do not normally cover: normal wear of parts such as tyres, inner tubes, brake pads, cables, chains and grips; damage from accidents, misuse, immersion in water, poor maintenance or poor storage; use of chargers or parts that are not approved; and changes made to the product, including de-restricting its speed or power. This does not apply where the problem comes from a fault that was there at delivery.
How to make a claim: write to us through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr with your order number, a description of the problem, and photos or a short video. We reply by email with the next steps. If a faulty product needs to come back to us, we pay the reasonable return cost, and the return address is provided by email when you make your request.
3. Battery safety
Lithium-ion batteries are safe when used properly, but they can overheat or catch fire if they are damaged or misused.
- Use only the charger supplied with the product, or an approved replacement from the manufacturer.
- Charge in a dry, open place, away from heat, escape routes and anything that can burn. Do not cover the battery or the charger.
- Do not leave a battery charging unattended or overnight, and unplug it once it is fully charged.
- Store the battery at room temperature. Let it cool after a ride before charging, and do not charge it below freezing.
- Stop using a battery that is swollen, dented, leaking, very hot or smells unusual. Move it outside if it is safe to do so, and contact us.
- Never open, repair or modify a battery yourself. Do not buy replacement batteries or chargers from unknown sellers.
- Fit a working smoke alarm where you charge.
- In case of fire, get everyone out and call 999.
More advice is available from your local fire and rescue service and from the Office for Product Safety and Standards on https://www.gov.uk.
4. Riding rules
Privately owned e-scooters may only be ridden on private land in the UK, with the landowner's permission. E-bikes may be ridden on public roads only if they meet the EAPC rules (250 W motor, assistance up to 15.5 mph, rider aged 14 or over). Full details: Terms and conditions, section 3.
5. Recycling: free take-back of old products and batteries
Electrical products and batteries must never go in your household bin. The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on our products means they must be collected separately.
Old electrical products (WEEE): under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, when you buy a new electrical product from us, we take back an old product of the same type, which did the same job, free of charge. Write to us through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr within 28 days of the delivery of your new product, and we will email you how to hand the old product over. You can also take old electrical products to your local household waste recycling centre.
Batteries: we take back, free of charge, old batteries from the types of products we sell. Damaged lithium batteries are a fire risk, so please contact us before sending a battery: we will tell you how to pack it safely or arrange the collection. Never put a lithium battery in a household bin or a recycling box.
6. Product safety recalls
If a product we sold is recalled, we will contact you using the details from your order and tell you what to do. Please keep your email address up to date by telling us if it changes.
