These terms are for consumers, that is people buying for their own use and not for a business. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights.
1. Customers in France
If you live in France, French consumer law applies to you, and you keep all the protections it gives you (including the right of withdrawal and the legal guarantees of conformity and against hidden defects). Please read the French version of these terms (choose "Français" in the language selector). If the English and French texts differ, the French text applies to customers living in France.
2. What we sell
We sell electric scooters (e-scooters), electric bikes (e-bikes), accessories and spare parts. Product photos are for illustration; colours on screen may vary slightly. Each product page shows the main features, the price and any legal restrictions on use.
3. Important: where you can ride in the UK
Privately owned e-scooters
In the UK it is illegal to ride a privately owned e-scooter on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes, bridleways or in any other public place. You may only ride one on private land, with the permission of the landowner. The only e-scooters allowed on public roads are rental e-scooters in government-approved trial areas, and the e-scooters we sell are not part of those schemes. If you ride a private e-scooter in a public place, the police can fine you, give you penalty points on your licence and seize the e-scooter.
By buying an e-scooter from us, you confirm that you understand these rules. We are not responsible for fines, seizure or other consequences of riding an e-scooter where the law does not allow it. This does not affect your rights if the product itself is faulty.
E-bikes (EAPC rules)
In Great Britain, an electric bike can be ridden on roads and cycle paths like an ordinary bicycle, with no licence, registration, tax or insurance, only if it meets the rules for an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC):
- it has pedals that can be used to move it;
- its electric motor has a maximum continuous rated power of 250 watts;
- the motor stops helping you when the bike reaches 15.5 mph (25 km/h);
- any throttle that works without pedalling only helps up to 6 km/h (walk assist);
- the rider is at least 14 years old.
An electric bike that does not meet these rules (for example more power, a higher assisted speed or a full throttle) is treated as a motor vehicle: it must be type-approved, registered, taxed and insured, and the rider needs a driving licence and a motorcycle helmet. Otherwise it may only be used on private land with the landowner's permission. Each e-bike product page states whether the model meets the EAPC rules.
Changing ("de-restricting") an e-bike or e-scooter to go faster or give more power can make it illegal on the road and unsafe. We are not responsible for damage caused by such changes.
Rules can be different in Northern Ireland and in other countries, including France. Please check the local rules before you ride.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where VAT applies. Delivery is free on every order, in the UK and France. The total shown before you pay is the total you pay: if any import duty or import VAT could be payable on delivery, we tell you clearly before you pay.
We accept the payment methods shown on the secure payment page. Payments are handled by our payment provider Stripe; we never see your full card details. Payment is taken when you place your order.
If a price is clearly wrong because of an obvious error, we will contact you before dispatch and you may cancel the order for a full refund.
5. How the contract is made
You add products to your basket, confirm your basket and pay on the secure payment page of our payment provider Stripe. Before you pay, you can check your order and its total price and correct any mistakes. When you place an order, you receive an email confirming that we have received it. The contract is made when we send you an email confirming that your order has been dispatched. If we cannot accept your order (for example if the item is out of stock), we will tell you and refund you in full.
6. Delivery
Delivery is free. Delivery areas and what happens on delivery are explained on our Delivery page. Unless we agree a different date with you, we deliver within 30 days of the contract. If we do not, you may cancel and receive a full refund. The goods are your responsibility from the time they are delivered to you or to someone you named.
7. Your right to cancel (14 days)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you may cancel your order for any reason within 14 days from the day after you (or someone you named) receive the goods. We refund the price and any standard delivery cost within 14 days, as explained on our Returns and refunds page, which also gives the exceptions, the return instructions for large items and batteries, and a model cancellation form.
8. Faulty goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you can reject them within 30 days for a full refund, or ask for a repair or replacement and then, if that does not work, a price reduction or refund (final right to reject). You can make a claim up to six years after delivery (five years in Scotland). See Returns and refunds and Warranty, safety and recycling.
9. Safe use and batteries
Read the user manual before first use, and wear a helmet and suitable protective equipment. Lithium-ion batteries can catch fire if they are damaged or misused. Use only the supplied charger, never leave a battery charging unattended or overnight, and stop using a battery that is swollen, damaged, hot, leaking or smells unusual. Full advice: Battery safety.
10. Recycling (WEEE and batteries)
Electrical products and batteries must never go in your household bin. When you buy a new electrical product from us, we take back an old one of the same type free of charge, and we take back old batteries from the types of products we sell. See Warranty, safety and recycling.
11. Our responsibility to you
If we break these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or of our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, or for your legal rights in relation to the products. We are not responsible for loss caused by using a product against the law or against the user manual.
12. Events outside our control
If an event outside our reasonable control delays our delivery, we will tell you as soon as possible and do what we can to limit the delay. If there is a risk of a substantial delay, you may cancel and receive a full refund for anything not yet delivered.
13. Personal data
We use your personal data as explained in our Privacy policy and Cookie policy.
14. Complaints
If you are not happy, please write to us first through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr. You can also call us on +44 7353 239038 (from the UK: 07353 239038). We will try to resolve your complaint quickly.
We are not obliged to use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider and do not currently do so for customers in the UK. If you are not satisfied with how we handled your complaint, you can get free, independent advice from Citizens Advice (consumer helpline 0808 223 1133, https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk), or make a claim through the small claims court (https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money). Customers in France and the EU can refer a dispute, free of charge, to our consumer mediator CM2C (Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice), 49 Rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France, https://www.cm2c.net.
Customers in France: please see the French version of these terms.
15. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you live in France or elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one shown when you placed it.
