FAQ

Here are the answers to the questions we are asked most often. Can't find yours? Write to us through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr.

These answers are for customers in the UK. Customers in France: please read the French version (choose "Français" in the language selector).

Ordering and payment

How do I place an order?

Choose your product, add it to your basket, then confirm your basket. You are taken to the secure payment page of our payment provider Stripe, where you enter your details and pay online. The total price is shown before you pay, and delivery is free. You receive a confirmation email as soon as your payment is confirmed.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept the payment methods shown on the secure payment page. Payment is handled by our payment provider Stripe on an encrypted page: we never see your full card details.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Write to us as soon as possible through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr, quoting your order number. As long as the order has not been dispatched, we will do our best to change or cancel it. Once it has left, you can still use your 14-day right to cancel after you receive it.

Delivery and tracking

Where do you deliver and how much does delivery cost?

Delivery is free on every order, in the UK and France. Delivery areas and what happens on delivery are explained on our Delivery page.

How do I track my order?

When your order is dispatched, you receive an email with tracking information, if the carrier provides it. Otherwise, write to us with your order number. Everything is explained on the Order tracking page.

My parcel arrived damaged. What should I do?

If you can, check the parcel in front of the driver and note any damage with the carrier. Take photos of the box and the product, then contact us promptly with your order number. These steps make your claim easier to handle; they do not reduce your legal rights.

Returns and your rights

Can I return a product?

Yes. You can cancel your order for any reason within 14 days from the day after you receive it (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). The procedure, the conditions and the precautions for products with a battery are explained on the Returns and refunds page.

What if my product is faulty?

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Within 30 days of delivery you can reject faulty goods for a full refund; after that, you can ask for a repair or replacement, then a price reduction or refund if that does not work. See Warranty, safety and recycling.

How do I report a fault?

Write to us through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr with your order number and a precise description of the problem. We may ask you for photos or a short video. Do not open the battery or attempt a repair yourself, as this could be dangerous.

Rules and regulations

Where can I ride an electric scooter?

In the UK, at present, a privately owned e-scooter may only be used on private land, with the landowner's permission. Only scooters from official rental trials are allowed on public roads, in certain areas. Rules change, so check the current rules before you buy.

In France, an e-scooter must be limited to 25 km/h and can be ridden from age 14, one person only. It must use cycle lanes and tracks, or otherwise roads with a 50 km/h limit in towns, and never pavements (unless locally authorised). Third-party insurance is compulsory.

What are the rules for an electric bike?

In Great Britain, a bike that meets the EAPC rules (250 W, assistance cutting out at 15.5 mph or 25 km/h) can be ridden from age 14, with no licence, registration or compulsory insurance. A bike that does not meet these rules is treated as a motor vehicle.

In France, an electric bike has a motor of 250 W at most, and assistance only works while you pedal, up to 25 km/h. A helmet is compulsory for children under 12 (recommended for everyone).

Can I de-restrict my scooter or bike?

No. De-restriction is illegal and can be penalised. It makes the vehicle non-compliant and dangerous, and it can affect your rights for any resulting damage and your insurance cover. We do not sell any de-restriction kits.

Battery, maintenance and parts

How do I charge the battery safely?

Only use the original charger. Charge in a dry, ventilated place, on a non-flammable surface, while you are there, and never in a hallway or escape route. Let a cold or hot battery return to room temperature before charging it. If it has been dropped, is swollen, gets unusually hot or gives off a smell, stop using it and contact us.

How can I make my battery last?

Avoid leaving it fully empty for long periods or in direct sun, and protect it from frost. For storage of several weeks, keep it charged to around 40 to 60%, somewhere at a moderate temperature, and top it up from time to time as the manufacturer's manual advises.

What maintenance should I plan for?

Regularly check tyre pressure, brake wear, bolt tightness and lights. Clean your ride with a damp cloth, never with a pressure washer. For more technical adjustments, follow the manufacturer's manual or take your scooter or bike to a qualified workshop.

How do I find the right spare part?

Browse our Spare parts range and check the compatibility shown on each product page. If in doubt, send us the make, the model and, if possible, a photo of the part to replace through our Contact page or by email at contact@green-tech-boutique.fr, and we will help you find the right one.
